Sparking A Lifelong Passion
When I was a young girl, I received my very first camera from my father, Theo, which was the start of a lifelong passion and the beginning of my career.

1970s-1980s
South Africa
Growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa, I spent my time experimenting and learning how to photograph family, friends and strangers. I developed immense respect for peoples' cultures and traditions, which began to influence my photographic style.

Exploring
After school I spent two years exploring Europe and the USA on my own. I supported myself with odd jobs. I loved meeting people and photographing them.

2000 - Now
Evolving as a photographer
Digital photography accelerated my technical skills. I attended many photographic workshops in different genres and continued to travel. I began to develop and to appreciate my own style and to be more confident with my subjects and composition. I began to sell my work. I accumulated a catalog of over a million images of which a tiny number are on my website and in my book.
